Mayor Fenty Announces Release of the DC 2009 Spring and Summer Fun Guide

Media Contact: John A. Stokes, (202) 673-2195 (DPR)

This afternoon Mayor Adrian M. Fenty announced the release of the 2009 DC Spring and Summer Fun Program Guide. He was joined by DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Director Clark E. Ray, and Councilmembers Harry Thomas, Jr. and Yvette Alexander.

“Working together as one government, the District is committed to partnering our respective agencies to provide the highest level of quality programming and services to our residents and this year is no exception. Keeping children and youth engaged over the summer helps them retain learning from the previous year and gives them an edge going into the new school year” said Mayor Fenty.

This year’s guide offers a variety of exciting spring and summer activities for District youth and their families to enjoy. DPR has joined DC Public Schools, Department of Health, Department of Mental Health, Metropolitan Police Department, Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department, DC Public Library, Office of the State Superintendent of Education, DC Children Youth Investment Trust Corporation, and the Department of Employment Services to provide District youth and their families a wealth of programs and activities for 2009.

Included in the 2009 DC Spring and Summer Fun Guide is information about programs and services such as summer camps, free summer meals, reading clubs, creative writing, crafts, sports and recreation, community service learning, health services, job readiness, teen programs, college preparation, and much, much more! For more information about the programs and services or how to register visit dcsummerfun.dc.gov or call 311.
